WANTED: THE BEST REAL ESTATE LAWYER IN VIRGINIA
Of all the lawyers you know, which one most richly deserves to be recognized by the real estate community for extraordinary contributions to the practice?
We are searching for a real-life superstar, the best of the best, someone who is talented, dedicated, unassuming, more than generous with his or her time and expertise, and capable of thinking “outside the box.” Someone who has earned the right to be the 2007 recipient of the Traver Scholar Award.
The Traver Award was created in 2005 by The Virginia Bar Association and Virginia Continuing Legal Education to honor men and women who embody the highest ideals in the practice of real estate law. It is named for the “father” of Virginia real estate lawyers, Courtland L. Traver, whose outstanding legal ability and willingness to share his knowledge and experience with others have made him a legend in the annals of Virginia law.
The first two recipients were Court Traver (2005) and Grice McMullan (2006). Nominations are requested for the third annual Award, which will be presented at the Annual Advanced Real Estate Seminar at Kingsmill in Williamsburg on February 23-24, 2007. The winner will receive free admission to the seminar, a free night’s accommodation and meal at Kingsmill, and an engraved Jefferson Cup, as well as recognition at the annual real estate seminar in May and in the FEE SIMPLE.
CRITERIA
The winner will be an attorney who meets the following criteria:
# Demonstrates a dedication to the highest standards of excellence and professionalism in the practice of real estate law.
# Displays exceptional attention to detail, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
# Exhibits an eagerness to mentor others and advance the practice of real estate law throughout the Commonwealth.
# Conducts himself or herself at all times with absolute integrity.
NOMINATION PROCESS
Nominations should be submitted in writing on the appropriate form and must be accompanied by additional material that specifically describes the manner in which the nominee meets the criteria for the Traver Award. Contact David Helscher, Chair of the VBA (dhelscher@opnlaw.com) or Nancy Kern at Virginia CLE (nkern@vacle.org) to obtain a nomination form. The deadline for submission is January 10, 2007.
